The Andy Atch Pro Model is here! If you remember the "Summit Series Tortuga", you should consider this board as a cheaper, but no less powerful version of the same board. While many downhill racers equip their boards with torque blocks, the Andy Atch Pro offers this excellent tucking mechanism in the design of the board.
CONCAVE
Equipped with a camber in the nose to increase board feel in an otherwise medium concave. This allows for greater leverage on the toe side before the heel transitions into a supportive but comfortable concave. Compared to the Mitty Pro deck, the Andy Atch could be described as slightly more "surfy" and a little more aggressive in the turn. The rider places his front foot at an angle of about 45 degrees and the ball of the back foot lands on the side of the W-bubble in the tail. The rest of the back foot drops into the tail wedge of the deck, where the W disappears and the tail rises at an 8-degree angle. This board can be chugged flat-footed with ease.
CONSTRUCTION
8-ply maple core. Black colored triaxial fiberglass top and bottom. Like all Pantheon boards in the current range, the entire board is laminated with waterproof resin. Although the deck is not completely waterproof, it is much more weatherproof and warp resistant than many other boards. Downhill stiffness right out of the box.
CONCEPT
The Andy Atch Pro was originally the seed deck before it was optimized for Andy's pro model "Tortuga". It's the same board with an updated construction to make the deck significantly more affordable without sacrificing riding ability. Conceptually, the deck is characterized by very sexy, smooth lines, making it look simply stunning underfoot. The technical elements of the board are mainly concentrated in the rear foot area. The principle of the wedge-shaped tail originally comes from slalom decks. This has been used before, but what is completely new here is the W-bubble that has been inserted into the tail crease. This is not only a masterpiece of woodworking, but also a fantastic surface for the board feel. The rest of the deck is an extension of this tail interface and offers 3 mounting options up front so once you have the tail of the deck set up to your liking, you can place your front truck where your tuck falls in the concave.
SETUPS
The Andy Atch should be ridden with narrow axles and fat wheels. You could technically get close to rail matching with a 150mm truck and a narrow freeride wheel, but most riders will probably want 130mm trucks or narrower and a fat wheel like OrangatangKegel or In Heat.
The board is equipped with a 2 degree angled flush mount in the front and the rear wedge adds another 8 degrees to the truck angle in the back, so plan on a wedge shaped riser.
