Ultra-X

In order to simply tease more performance out of a kite in aerodynamically demanding conditions, an already harmoniously functioning design was not simply fine-tuned further. Instead, everything was first broken down to the basics in order to completely revise the basic frame. The Zephyr V8 Ultra-X now features a more detailed sail shape, resulting in a cleaner overall kite profile.

The introduction of 'Ultra-X' lightweight materials has resulted in a substantial 17% weight reduction in this powerful 17m kite, which is absolutely crucial to its undoubtedly sportier handling.

The V8 flies more forward and gives faster feedback even in weaker winds. At the same time, the upper wind limit at which you still feel comfortable has been moved further up. This makes it a very useful addition to your kite range.

The combination of the advantages of a lower overall weight and a cleaner sail across the entire profile results in sportier and more dynamic handling. The flight characteristics of the V8 are significantly improved throughout.

Continuous curve of the front tube with transversal shaping

The aerodynamic design upgrades found in the Zyphyr V8 Ultra-X have already proven their performance-enhancing effect in other kites in the Ozone range.

As with the Enduro V4 and the Alpha V2, the continuously curved front tube ensures that a continuously curved front tube (without noticeable transitions) is ultimately achieved from tip to tip thanks to pre-bent individual segments, instead of trying to imitate a bend with straight individual segments via discontinuous kinks at the connection points.

The harmonious interplay of the continuously curved front tube with the transversal shape was nevertheless incorporated as a fundamental component in the already highly developed kite designs Enduro V4, Alpha V2, Reo V7 and Edge V12.

These latest design features reduce induced drag and create a cleaner surface in the most important area of the wing. This results in less turbulent airflow over the sail area, which ultimately results in a better lift to drag ratio, significantly improving overall performance

With the power of a 17 on demand and the handling of a 13, you'll be impressed with how little physical effort is required to steer the kite through turns, whether in the top or low end of the wind range.

The inclusion of the Ultra-X materials is yet again the fundamental reason why the V8 feels so impressively lively even at the very edge of the wind window. Exactly where many of its competitors fall victim to the great challenge of the backstall.

The Zephyr V8 Ultra-X flies forward at all times and has less tendency to get caught in the backstall even in really light winds. Instead of relying purely on the basic pull, you can now also use the kite's increased airspeed in the low end to generate the necessary pulling power.

As soon as you are in the planing phase with your board, the V8 continues to accelerate, but with less cross pull. This means you can comfortably hold the edge for much longer and, even if the wind picks up, you won't immediately feel the stress that robs your session of its enjoyment factor.

ULTRA-X materials

Working with colleagues in the dedicated prototyping department at the Ozone factory, the design team undertook an intensive materials development and testing program that spanned more than three years.

The use of lightweight high performance materials has resulted in improved drift, faster responsiveness / turning speed and more propulsion of the kite through the entire wind window. In addition to being 17% lighter than the V7, all materials used in the V8 Ultra-X have proven to provide the necessary internal strength. Please note that these Ultra-X materials are structurally very stable and solid, but less resistant to friction and abrasion. It is therefore recommended that beginners, who tend to be rougher with their material at the start, choose a large Catalyst to get to know the sport in light winds.

Lighter high-performance Dacron

The newly integrated 125g performance Dacron is used on the front tube and struts and is not only 20% lighter but also stiffer, maintaining the kite's shape and associated sail tension for longer. This careful implementation helped the design team to achieve more reactive handling and aerodynamic performance improvements.

Lightweight sail material

Utilizing the weight saving properties of the latest 46g double ripstop Teijin sail material (17% lighter than a 55g standard triple ripstop) results in the kite's improved drift characteristics. The high performance coating provides a high level of strength and durability at a low weight.

Bridle lines with reduced diameter

Every millimeter and every detail in terms of drag counts when it comes to getting the most out of accessible low-wind performance. You can rely on OZONE's design team to optimize the new Zephyr V8 Ultra-X to get you on the water sooner and longer without the usual complications often associated with light wind sessions.

Der Hersteller Ozone legt Wert darauf, dass keine Überproduktion den Markt kaputt macht und so der Preis Deines Kites auch für den späteren Wiederverkauf möglichst stabil bleibt. Die Produktion ist daher immer sehr eng an die aktuelle Nachfrage angelehnt. Seltene Modelle, wir die Hochleister R1 werden ausschließlich im Kundenauftrag produziert. Die Lieferzeit für Ozone Kites, die nicht in Deutschland (bei uns oder Ozone) auf Lager sind, liegt unter normalen Bedingungen bei rund 4-5 Wochen. Bitte bestelle also rechtzeitig!
