GUIDE TO THE CORRECT LINE LENGTH

Three years ago, North Kiteboarding introduced varying line lengths from 19 to 27 meters, as the length of the lines has a decisive influence on the flight characteristics of the kite. Different riding styles, different kite models or the individual kite sizes can be factors that require varying line lengths. For the best possible tuning, the lines in 19 and 22 m length are now delivered with a Medium Bar (49 /42 cm) and the lines in 24 and 27 m length with a Large Bar (53 /46 cm). In order to achieve the maximum riding comfort, it is essential to match the kite and the riding style by choosing the best fitting line length.

19m (70% Handling / 30% Power)
Super fast and reactive turning characteristics. Shorter lines are optimal for freestyle and radical kiteloops. They are also very suitable for wave kiting, as the turning speed of the kite in the wave is of great importance. Wakestylers also appreciate the direct connection with the kite. Disadvantage is the somewhat weaker performance in light winds.

  • fast turning and high reactivity
  • For radical freestyle, wakestyle and wave
  • Sporty and fast kiteloops
  • smaller bar width

22m (60% Handling / 40% Power)
The favored length of North Kiteboarding freestyle and wave team riders. The 22 meter lines still offer a high flying speed, making them very suitable for freestyle and wave. They result in a slightly reduced lowend, but not as extreme as the 19-meter lines.

  • Fast and direct turning behavior
  • radical kite loops
  • favorite setup of wave and freestyle team riders
  • best suitability for the wave
  • shorter bar width

24m (50% handling / 50% power)
The optimal allround length for riders who don't want to specialize too much. The good turning speed combined with the strong lowend makes this setup the most popular option among kiters. Suitable for freeriders, freestylers and wave kiters.

  • the most versatile line length
  • suitable for all styles
  • strong lowend and high turning speed
  • high jumps
  • optimal setup for only one bar for several kite sizes

27m (40% handling / 60% power)
The extra length means an extra portion of power. With this line setup you extend the range of use of your kite in light winds. It also provides more power when jumping, as the lines can be charged very well when anchoring the board.

  • enormously strong lowend
  • high jumps
  • powerful lift
