Already at the age of 12, Mario Rodwald was asked about his wishes for the perfect board. In the following 15 years as a professional kitesurfer, this question has never left him.

During this time Mario Rodwald won the German Championships in freestyle kitesurfing eight times and three European Championships. After Mario finished his professional career, he also intensively dealt with the pollution of the oceans and was involved in an impressive ARD documentary film about the pollution of the oceans. His passion for perfect boards and the impressions he gathered during competitions in Asia and during the production of the film regarding the garbage in the sea, he merged in his project KOLD shapes. Masterful kiteboards with endless technical details developed in all the years Mario has spent on boards combined with the most ecological production possible.###

KOLD shapes - Ecological production

Mario Rodwald makes a point of ensuring that his production is as ecologically sound as possible.

To this end, he has the CO2 emissions of production measured and ensures that the CO2 emissions are neutralized through projects (e.g. plantations in South America or ovens in Africa). The process is monitored by a TÜV-certified agency, which also takes into account the journey of the employees to the factory where Mario's boards are produced when calculating the CO2 emissions.

Of course, more can be done. Where technically possible, KOLD shapes does not use materials that are harmful to the environment. For example, flax fibers are used and plastic is completely eliminated from the packaging. Production takes place in Europe and organic resins are used for the resins used.

KOLD shapes - Technical sophistication

for 15 years Mario Rodwald had time to think about the perfect kiteboard every day.

As a professional kiteboarder he knows every situation on the water and the more often you handle the material so consciously, the more you notice details as flaws that you want to eliminate, while other kiters just take such weaknesses as a given. When you talk to Mario Rodwald, you quickly realize that he means business. All the ideas that have been developed over the years, he has tried to implement in his KOLD shapes boards. The result is the freestyle/freeride"POLAR" kiteboard with an elaborate channel construction with a double concave, special channels on the tip through which you can ride smaller fins, stringers made of flax fibers that provide sophisticated tension, a shape that avoids splash water, elaborately designed footpads with ratchet and air pads and dozens of other details.

As a result, Mario has constructed a very forgiving board, which can be well mastered even by beginners and by the slightly stronger rocker also brings the freestyle enthusiasts still powerful fun. The board rides loose, has a good pop, glides early and is forgiving on landings and also rides very pleasant in the wave.
