For the transitional period you don't have to squeeze into a completely waterproof dry suit or sweat in a wetsuit. Neoprene and drysuits work well for sports where you don't move around a lot actively and therefore don't sweat much (e.g. kitesurfing). On the SUP, on the other hand, you need a material that wicks away sweat and dries extremely quickly.

The outer shell is made of super soft Lycra, the middle is made of polyurethane and the inner layer is made of soft fleece. This allows you to sweat, but it also protects you from getting chilled by wind. It's much more flexible in the shoulder area, longer in the torso, and it still keeps you as warm as a simple wetsuit.
